A Message from the Principal
Kia ora and welcome to Takapuna Primary School, a friendly, local school situated in the heart of Auckland's vibrant North Shore City.  My name is Cindy Walsh and I have worked in education for 25 years, the past eight as proud Principal of this wonderful school.

I believe that children's learning should be at the centre of all decisions made within a school and Takapuna Primary's goal is to build strong learning-focused relationships between children, teachers, parents and the greater community.  I believe that every child can achieve successfully and I am dedicated to ensuring this happens.  Our high levels of academic success and our motivated, engaged and happy children are testament to this.

My education began in a one-room school under Mt. Taranaki and continues daily, surrounded by 450 children and staff from over 40 nations.  I love coming to work each day.

I feel very privileged to be leading such a diverse learning community and we celebrate each of the cultures represented at school.  This diversity, along with the inclusiveness we instill, has shaped TPS into a dynamic, tolerant and respectful place.

I am passionate about working together with staff, students and parents to bring to life our collective vision for Takapuna Primary School: that is, a learning community empowering learners to achieve personal excellence in an ever-changing world.

I pride myself on being a hardworking, passionate and approachable leader and I encourage parents, prospective parents and members of the community to come in anytime to see me for a visit, to give feedback or just to say hello.  My door is always open.
